Responsibilities

Below is a listing of responsibilities for Section, Area and Neighborhood Coordinators and their alternates, and suggested emergency preparedness activities for each person and family.

Responsibilities of Section Coordinator (SC) and alternate

Basics

  1. Create an Emergency Response Plan for you and your family.
  2. Create an Emergency Response Plan for your Section.
  3. Make a copy and then complete and periodically review and revise your Neighbor Help Sheet (NHS).
  4. Have a personal/family entry in the Section Data Spreadsheet. (Restricted access)
  5. Get a Google Account (GA) so you can subscribe to the SC and alt. mailing list.

    2. Then click here to subscribe to the mailing list.
  6. Live in the Section you are coordinating.
  7. Be subscribed to the "Island Net".
  8. Fulfill requirements in 911 Signs and Access.

Organizational Duties

  1. Find an alternate for yourself.
  2. Divide and define your Section into approximately 5 Areas (each Area should have approximately 5 Neighborhoods) and share with the MIEP Team.
  3. Appoint Area Coordinators (AC) and alternates, or assume those duties.
  4. Share the names and contact information of your appointees with your MIEP Team.
  5. Be familiar with the communications tree.
  6. Own a communication device (See Communication gear).
  7. Forward updates of your Section Data Spreadsheet to your MIEP Team (via a forthcoming process).
  8. Identify one of the Area rallying points as your Section rallying point for emergencies and meetings.
  9. Distribute Information/training material for your Section. (Draft - material forthcoming)
  10. Call occasional meetings and drills.

In an emergency or drill, ...

    1. Take care of you and your family first.
    2. Assess your Section and triage your response.
    3. Organize available resources and deploy local capabilities.
    4. Report to Marrowstone Island Emergency Coordinator (MI EC) and call for resources not within your Section.
    5. Respond to Island needs as requested from MI EC.
    6. Assume MI EC duties if required.

    1. Create an Emergency Response Plan for you and your family.
    2. Create an Emergency Response Plan for your Section.

    5. Be familiar with the communications tree.
    6. Own a communication device (See Communication gear).
    7. Forward updates of your Neighborhood Data Spreadsheet to your AC (via a forthcoming process).
    8. Specify a rallying point for emergencies.
    9. Distribute Information/training material for your Neighborhood. (Draft - material forthcoming)

    3. Organize available resources and deploy to respond with local capabilities.
    4. Report to AC and call for resources not within your neighborhood.
    5. Respond to Area needs as requested from AC.

Suggestions for each person and family

Basics

How you can help

  1. Employ the worst case scenario (as specified in the Introduction) to develop your family plan. (template forthcoming)
  2. Know who your neighbors are.
  3. Be familiar with the communications tree.
  4. Consider owning a communication device (See Communication gear).
  5. Know where the rallying point is for you and your neighbors.
  6. Read/review the "Information/training material" provided by your NC (forthcoming).
  7. Be prepared to take over NC responsibilities, if required.
  8. Participate in occasional meetings and drills called by your NC.

In an emergency or drill, ...

    1. Take care of you and your family first.
    2. Check the welfare of your neighbors.
    3. Report your findings to NC (assume NC duties, if needed).
    4. Help your neighbors and NC as needed.
