Need for information

This web page is a work in progress about 60% done as of 5/1/11. Click here to send comments, ask questions, or offer improvements.

When a disaster or emergency occurs, like the one described in the Worst case scenario, one of your first needs will be for information. You may receive information over your phone, if it is PLAN enabled. (More about PLAN.)

If phone service is available, "911" and the Emergency Operations Center will probably be busy for a very long time.

If there is no power, then you you won't be able to watch tv or listen to a radio (unless battery operated). [If you can, tune to 91.9 KPTZ]

So where do you get LOCAL information? You get it from your Emergency Response Plan

  • . Click Emergency Response Plan here or in the left sidebar to create yours. Owen Mulkey (Marrowstone Island's Emergency Coordinator) (MI EC) has established the Ham operator network but they and Owen will be very busy. DO NOT call Owen's or the Ham's phone numbers, UNLESS it is an IMMEDIATE life or death situation. They need their phone lines or hand operated radios open to handle calls from the Section Coordinators listed in Five Sections.
  • DO NOT call the Section Coordinators (SCs) UNLESS it is an IMMEDIATE life or death situation. They will be busy responding to the needs of Owen (MI EC) and Area Coordinators.
  • DO NOT call the Area Coordinators (ACs) UNLESS it is an IMMEDIATE life or death situation. They will be busy responding to the needs of Section and Neighborhood Coordinators.

If you need something. it MIGHT be in your Neighborhood, your Area, your Section or in one of the other Five Sections. Go see your Neighborhood Coordinator (NC) or alternate and s/he can check your Neighborhood MIEP Data Spreadsheet to see if somebody nearby can satisfy your need.
